Three English football players have suffered from an appalling amount of hatred and online abuse, right after they all failed to score penalties during the final match.

But what really caught so many people’s attention is how a post from famous media outlet 7News created a social media post that was linked to a story about racism. However, what the creators of the post forgot is how their own post was racist to the core.

Moreover, the post was so racist in nature that an MP from the United Kingdom used it as an example of the horrifying stream of racism that the players endured after the football match.

The social media post was undoubtedly so poorly worded that it sparked outrage from all directions. It pointed out the ethnicity of the three players which many felt was totally uncalled for. Yes, they may have missed the penalty shootout but that certainly didn’t give anyone the right to behave as they did.

While the post which was seen on Facebook was awfully short, it did go about linking to a story that spoke about how badly the English players were treated in terms of racist attacks revolving around Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho.

All three players failed to score a single goal during the determining round which resulted in Italy becoming champions and taking home the Euro 2020 Champion’s trophy back with them to Rome.

But the link of 7News to the story about the abuse appeared to show little to no sensitivity to the players. It came with an appalling heading that included, ‘Three Black players failed to score during the penalty shootout, causing England to lose the game 3-2 to Italy.

The channel which is Australian by origin didn’t only receive severe backlash from UK citizens but was abruptly condemned in Australia too. And that’s why it immediately took down the post in an instant as the fierce backlash began to grow.
