Change is hard to accept.
Most people aren’t flexible enough to welcome a change especially when it comes to eating or drinking habits. Either Starbucks launches their new coffee cups or if Snickers comes up with new candy bars that are filled with creamy nut butter, people tend to stick to their taste bud desires and comfort zone for the things not worth bothering about.
Recently, knowing the global crisis of plastic pollution, many large businesses and companies came up with alternate solutions for packaging.
McDonald’s lately reinforced to change all its plastic straws and replace them with eco-friendly paper/cardboard straws. But it seems really hard for many people to give up the plastic straws. They are more concerned about the chills they get on their tongues while slurping from plastic straws rather than worrying about the plastic being a mistaken food for marine life.
One of them is this cunning seller on eBay, selling the old plastic straws of McDonald’s for £1,000($1270).
He uses a satire scheme as in the title he described these straws as “SUPER RARE” and in the description, he explains that these straws are soon going to be obsolete from this planet Earth.According to him, this is a good opportunity to buy them now and to brag about them later after 50 years from now to your grandchildren.
Further, in the description, he also suggests signing a petition if you want McDonald’s to bring back the old plastic straws.
And why is this petition so important? Well some of us aren’t experiencing the same old thrill while having our milkshakes.Yes! that’s right, people are actually complaining about the cardboard taste they are having and that the paper straws turn soggy after a while.
Fortunately, a good new to the planet Earth is, besides all the wiles on internet, plastic straws aren’t coming back. McDonald’s signed another petition to remove even signal usage of plastic straw from all its franchises.
