Massive Fire Erupts In Beirut Just Weeks After The Deadly Explosion


Just weeks after the deadly Beirut port explosion that cost nearly two hundred people their lives, a massive fire erupted amid the remains of the blast.

As seen in photos of the raging blaze, giant flames and clouds of black smoke rose from the wreckage after stored oil and tires reportedly caught fire, prompting residents to flee the scene.

While it is unclear what the cause of the fire was as of this writing, authorities have confirmed that the Lebanese Army has taken control of managing the incident.

According to the reports, Col. Joseph Msalam, the spokesperson for the police, insisted he didn’t have the information about what’s going on at the warehouse where the fire erupted.

Meanwhile, the Army reportedly closed major roads leading to the area and began redirecting traffic while battling the flames. Rushing to the aid were also military helicopters filled with water to douse the flames.

The incident follows just 37 days after the deadly ammonium nitrate explosion at the port.

According to the reports, the blast resulted in the deaths of nearly 200 people. Furthermore, nearly 7,000 people were left injured and thousands of buildings in proximity have been damaged or destroyed.
