At least twenty people got shot, one fatally, as gunmen started shooting at the crowd during a block party in Washington D.

The incident occurred near the 3300 block of Dubois Place SE where multiple shooters opened fire on the crowd from different directions at approximately 12.30 am on Sunday.
As the D.C. authorities confirmed, at least three gunmen ambushed the people attending the gathering whereas they allegedly shot at them from different locations.
While at least twenty people got shot during the attack, one of them, a 17-year-old father-of-one Christopher Brown, succumbed to his gun wounds.
Following the shooting, at least seven victims were rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. One of them was also an off-duty police officer who is believed to be fighting for her life as of this writing.
As the investigation takes place, witnesses have allegedly confirmed that the incident occurred as hundreds of people had gathered at the residential street to party. According to some onlookers, they could hear shots getting fired from different directions.
Sharing footage from the scene of the shooting, resident George Benton claimed he was at his home when “about 100 gun shots” took place.
In an update, the local also alleged that a police officer confirmed eight different firearms were used in the mass shooting.
“You had DJs, everybody was down there. It was more women than men. Next thing you know, it was like Beirut out here. It sounded like machine guns,” another witness, Nelson Bostic, said in an interview with WTOP.
“People laying on the ground. People ducking under cars and stuff like that. It was terrible.”
Following the tragic death of the young father, his family has spoken out and called for an end of violence.
“You need to stop because you took away something that belonged to me, somebody hat I loved so much and somebody dear to me,” grandmother Patience Brown said in an interview with WUSA9.
“I know this is not the only child or will be the last child. But they need to stop this. I want everybody to be safe and happy. But this is not the way to be safe. And this is not the way to be happy.”
