Insiders who remain in contact with the the Duke and Duchess confirmed media reports that the £8,000 were the proceedings that Markle received for cookbook that was published in 2018.

The recipe book is likely one of the most important memories that she cherishes from the now severed past as a public member of the royal family. “Together” contains 50 recipes from the survivors of the Grenfell community. It was one of the first public acts that Markle did solo.

Again thanking the donation, Migrateful said that it will use the precious funds to continue on with their mission. According to its websites, Migrateful invites migrants and refugees who are having trouble integrating into the community to run cooking classes.

The organization says that the classes not only gives the newcomers a chance to hone their English skills, but also grants a great opportunity for them to form relationships and deepen mutual understanding across the different cultures.

Because of legal and logistical reasons, migrants and refugees often can’t immediately start working to feed their family. Migrateful says it helps the newcomers as they prepare to get a job in a new environment, as well as empowering them by inviting them as instructors.

The recipe book, which was published to help the survivors of the dreadful fire that swept through the Grenfell community, was popular when it was released. Within the first two months, nearly 40,000 copies of the cookbook were sold around the UK.
