The Facebook CEO’s chief security officer has been under scrutiny after he was accused of sexual misconduct and racist comments including those directed at his boss’s wife.
The allegations came to light after two former staffers of Mark Zuckerberg claimed that Liam Booth, who happens to be a former Secret Service officer, sexually harassed a homosexual employee before groping him and making demeaning comments.
On top of sexual harassment, the chief security officer was also accused of making homophobic and racist comments. According to the claims, Booth said he “didn’t trust black people” and claimed “white lives matter more than black lives.”
To make the matters even more disturbing, the security officer allegedly made disparaging comments about his boss’s wife, Priscilla Chan, who is Asian American.
As one of the former staffers added, Booth allegedly harassed her in the office and even told her to change her clothes because they were too distracting for him.
The other officer claimed Booth was making fun of a transgender employee by calling them ‘it’ and expressed words of hatred towards everyone he deemed to be an outsider.
The disturbing allegations were outlined in letters sent to Mark Zuckerberg’s private estate after allegedly being ignored by the managing director of the CEO’s private office.
“The family office takes complaints of workplace misconduct very seriously and our human resources team promptly investigates all such matters,” the office’s spokesperson, Ben LaBolt, said in a statement.
“The allegations against Liam Booth were brought to the office’s attention for the first time by The Bloom Firm after both former employees had left employment by the family office and engaged legal counsel.
“As soon as The Bloom Firm presented these allegations, the family office engaged Munger, Tolles & Olson, an outside law firm, to conduct an investigation of all allegations made by The Bloom Firm to determine whether the claims have merit.point 318 |
