A 36-year-old man, from Fife in Scotland, has decided to deliver pizza to hospital staff across the country amid coronavirus outbreak.
Mark Dickinson was inspired by his doctor wife Meg Dickinson who told him ‘Pizza never goes down badly’ when she was asked what makes hospital staff happy during long shifts.
He started crowdfunding and initially decided to deliver pizza at their local hospital. But, after receiving an overwhelming response, he decided to expand it as much as possible.
Within 24 hours, he got over £1100.
The doctors and the hospital staff are working round the clock amid coronavirus outbreak and to boost their morale, Mark will be delivering pizza to hospital staff across the country.
He told the Daily Record: “We will start sending out orders tomorrow night and want to target hospitals in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Ninewells in Dundee.”
“Lots of staff are about to go on long 12 hour shifts, they might not have the opportunity to get a meal.”
He is now urging the public to support his campaign to say thanks to the hospital staff amid coronavirus outbreak.
Mark plans to run it out on a weekly basis if he gets the same response.
He said: “I have always loved the NHS but being married to a doctor gives you such an appreciation for the service and how passionate everyone is in it.”
Mark told that his friends, Blair Bowman and Helen MacInnes have been organizing distributions in different regions and it is not only for doctors but for everyone including reception, porters, and nurses.
Mark is urging everyone to ‘chip in a slice of pizza’ to say thanks to the doctors and the hospital staff who are working very hard to save people’s lives amid coronavirus outbreak.
