On the basis that he’s never felt healthier before, the 35-year-old carnivore insists it is the right thing to feed his family the same diet he enjoys.

Despite convincing his four kids to follow his dietary path, Nance wasn’t able to persuade his partner, Joanne Prosser, to eat raw meat.

“Whenever I get a fresh animal in, there’s something about the fresh blood that just stimulates appetite,” Derek revealed.

“Decomposed flesh is a part of a natural diet of almost every predator on this planet. There’s plenty of animals that you can see that scavenge,” he added.

Decomposing meat, also known as ‘high meat,’ is known to provide people with a sense of euphoria when consumed.

As a part of his unusual lifestyle, Derek also consumes live maggots which allegedly help him digest the meat he eats.

While Nance claimed his diet is full of benefits, he did admit falling ill one time after consuming a raw piece of chicken that was one week old.

“I believe that the nourishment that are in raw animal foods is far superior than the baby foods,” Nance expressed, adding that it is perfectly safe to eat raw meat if it derives from a healthy and clean animal.

“There are certain nutrients that are in raw flesh that gets cooked out – there are trace amounts of vitamin C, the vitamin A, and the B vitamins.”

As for his future goals, Nance wants to confirm the theories he made about eating raw meat by living a long life.

“I’ve invested 10 years in it and now I’m really curious to see how far I can push it,” he said. “If I could live to be 80 years old, then it would validate a lot of the theories that I have about this diet.”
