Authorities are searching for another gunman who opened fire at a police vehicle with an officer inside.
This comes only days after two LA deputies were left fighting for life after they were ambushed in Los Angeles.
According to police, the suspect opened fire at a moving police vehicle at about 7:25 pm on Tuesday in Suffolk. Three bullet holes are visible on the side of the patrol car.
Fortunately, the officer inside the car was not injured.
Officers remained at the scene for several hours after the incident as authorities searched the area for the unidentified suspect.
Investigators asked witnesses or anyone with information to submit a tip online or contact the Suffolk Police Department at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. A $1,000 reward will be given for tips that result in an arrest.
The shooting in Suffolk came only days after another shooter fired multiple shots in a police car in Compton on Saturday, leaving two officers fighting for their lives.
One of the deputies is a 31-year-old mother of a 6-year-old boy and the other is a 24-year-old male. They were both struck in the head by multiple gunshots.
The LA County Sheriff’s Department is offering a $1,000 reward for tips that lead to his arrest. The suspect is described as a 28 to 30-year-old man with dark skin.
The shooting in Compton sparked controversy as some people were filmed mocking the deputies and demonstrating outside the hospital where they were fighting for their lives.
Some protesters blocked the entrance of the hospital emergency room while chanting: ‘We hope they f****** die.’
