A Curious Man Thought It Was A ‘Brilliant’ Idea To Use An Electric Weapon On Himself

Cats are given a bad rap because of the saying that “curiosity kills that cat.

” But it turns out that cats are not the only creatures who can become too curious for their own good after a man was left writhing in pain on the floor of his Virginia home when he tried out a stun gun on himself out of curiosity.

Anthony Davie was at home by himself in Yorktown, Virginia, when he thought it would be a “brilliant” idea to send thousands of volts of electricity coursing through his body. Perhaps he thought that being a gym bunny would help him weather the shock of the experience.

He recorded the video in hopes of showing it to his wife when she came back from out of town.

Wearing matching pink sweatbands and headband and an image of a kitten on his vest, Anthony brings out the pink-colored taser. Without hesitation, he touches the device to his chest and immediately falls to the floor.

After a brief interval, Anthony picks up the camera that had also fallen when he fell and can be heard muttering, “stupid.”

Anthony said: “My wife was out of town, and I was home bored and shenanigans happened.

“I was sweating because I knew it was going to hurt, but I wanted to make a video and show my wife.

“It hurt way more than I expected, it was bad!”

Although stun guns understandably cause trepidation because of the thousands of volts of electricity that it shoots into the body, it doesn’t inflict serious or permanent injury because the amperage is low.

The device works by driving electricity into the nervous system with a high pulse frequency. This causes the muscles to activate rapidly but not efficiently. This causes the muscles to deplete blood sugar very quickly and convert it to lactic acid in seconds, just as an intense workout would.

Because of the resultant energy loss, movement and function of the muscles are impaired. The electrical signals also interrupt the neurological impulses that control muscle movement.

The net effect is disorientation and loss of balance with direct voluntary muscle movement lost. However, even if you make contact with the body of the person being tasered, no current will transfer to your system.

In Anthony’s case, his biggest danger would have been hitting his head on the floor or a piece of furniture once he fell. Fortunately, that didn’t happen.
