A man who has lived without a home for some time just shared practical tips on how to live without shelter in America, and it quickly went viral.
According to HUD’s Annual Point-in-Time Count, more than 560,000 people have experienced homelessness on a certain night in 2019.
A recent study also showed that unemployment and pandemic-induced crises could result in a 45% spike in homelessness within a year.
“I cannot tell you how it hurts me to have to write this,” the former homeless man wrote on Imgur.
“But some 10-20 million of you, my fellow Americans, are now facing eviction. Many of you have no where to go.”
The man listed all tips for people who may suddenly find themselves in such worrying situation.
His post quickly went viral, with others commenting: “Wow thank you for sharing so many PRACTICAL tips and advice from someone who’s been through it. Hopefully I won’t have to use them, but now I know some tips or where to link people if they need advice.”
Another wrote: “Walmarts allow camping over night. Also while this is stealing no ones gonna ask what room you’re in to get breakfast at a model.”
A third said: “Find a local Sikh temple. They will feed you, and you will learn some interesting stuff and meet interesting people along the way.”
