A 32-year-old man passed away after he got trapped in a support structure for a water slide in Eldorado Aquatic Park in Arizona.
Emergency crews arrived and recovered the body of the man who broke into the aquatic center and became stuck 4-feet down the pipe.
According to fire officials, they were ‘working to free an individual trapped in a large pipe that is supporting the sides at the pool.’
But they later said that the rescue mission turned into a body recovery operation.
It is not clear how the 32-year-old became trapped in the pipe but fire officials said he was about four feet down.
Sgt. Kevin Watts said to The Arizona Republic that an officer making rounds in the area heard the man calling for help around 12:30 am.
The police officer searched the area near Miller Road and Oak Street for some time but could not locate the source of the voice. It was before 2 am when they finally realized that the man was inside the Eldorado Aquatic and Fitness Center.
The rescue required a complete dismantling of the water slide but the man stopped responding with emergency personnel and was lifeless when he was removed around 7 am.
According to officers, the man went over the fence and was on the slide when he got trapped inside the pipe.
The Aquatic Centers is closed as the incident is under investigation. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
