Larynzo D. Johnson was summoned to a judge for 14 counts of wanton endangerment and two counts of assault on police officers.

The shooting incident occurred amid protests after it was revealed by a grand jury that no murder charges had been filed against the three officers involved in the Breonna Taylor case.

Johnson was one of the protesters who marched the streets as they chanted ‘Black Lives Matter’ while crying and consoling each other over the grand jury’s decision.

The 26-year-old reportedly opened fire on a group of police officers, including Officer Robinson Desroches and Major Aubrey Gregory.

Officer Desroches remained at a hospital in stable condition after he was struck in the abdomen. Gregory, who was shot in the hip, was released from the hospital and is now recovering.

According to NBC News, the state prosecutors originally requested a $750,000 bond. However, Johnson’s lawyer, Zac Meihaus, sought to lower the bail to $142,000.

Meihus asked that his client be allowed to wait for his trial under home confinement. He argued that the city was a ‘war zone’ and the situation made it hard to place blame solely on Johnson.

“I don’t know if we can truly pinpoint that he is the person who fired the shot ‘heard around the world’ so to speak,” Meihus said.

But prosecutors claimed that there was evidence the 26-year-old was the person responsible for the shooting.

127 protesters have been arrested by authorities on Wednesday, and the number has increased to 150 by Saturday.
