A Florida man got arrested after he started shooting at a hotel because he saw a mother and son who allegedly weren’t social distancing.
The incident happened at the Crystal Beach Suites Oceanfront Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, where 47-year-old Douglas Marks opened fire after getting upset about an alleged lack of social distancing.
According to the reports, Marks confronted New Mexico-based Veronica Pena, who was visiting the place together with her son, and ordered the family to leave the hotel.
“You aren’t social distancing,” Marks told the pair according to Local10.
After ordering Veronica and her son to leave the lobby, Marks allegedly pulled out his firearm and fired several shots before getting arrested by the police.
“He tried to shoot the girl and the kid,” a witness of the shooting claimed in an interview with Local10. As the witness said, he attempted to shield other tourists from bullets using his body.
Veronica and her son managed to get through the ordeal unscathed. According to the reports, no one was injured during the shooting.
Following Marks’ arrest, the 47-year-old insisted that he only fired “four warning shots” because he was being followed as he approached the front desk to ask them to call the police.
According to the reports, Marks is facing several charges including discharging a firearm in public and aggravated assault with a firearm following his stunt at the Crystal Beach Suites Oceanfront Hotel.
