During an online court appearance, Frederick allegedly asked the victims to forgive him and insisted his actions were not triggered by the “color of anyone’s skin” but by the Black Lives Matter displayed at the couple’s home.

Responding to the 24-year-old, Judge Michael Chupa, who entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Frederick, said:

“But using violence, whether motivated by race or politics or hatred or acrimony, I don’t care. That is not what America is about. We have enough problems in this country without people shooting or violence or disruptions or riots or looting or burning over politics.”

Following the arraignment, Frederick has been remanded at Macomb County Jail on a $200,000 bond. In case the bond is posted, the man has been ordered to stay away from Halls and wear a GPS tether.
