By day he’s a realtor, by dinner he’s Mayor.

“The food is great don’t get me wrong, but it’s the people here that make you feel good!” Mendenhall says.

Some months ago, he heard about a Georgia man who ate Chick-fil-A for 100 days in a row, excluding days when the restaurant was closed.

“I thought to myself, I could do that! I could do that!” said Mendenhall.

His wife reacts differently.

“At first, I thought it was a little crazy, and I didn’t think he’d stick with it, but then I could tell he was serious about it,” said Mendenhall’s wife, Laura.

He took to his family to Disneyland, and Mendenhall drove from Disneyland to his Chick-fil-A, ordered his meal, and returned to Disneyland.

“My dear wife asked me, when is all of this going to end?!” Mendenhall laughs.

He decided to end the challenge when they went on vacation, so his wife quickly planned one to Palm Springs. During his journey, Mark took a picture each day with employees, friends, and strangers, proof of his amazing streak.

He started all this for a cause. Mendenhall helped raise nearly $1,000 for the Poway Unified School District Adopt-a-Family program through the challenge.

The chain has added 700 new restaurants in the span of those seven years. Journal & Courier noted that in 2018 alone, Chick-fil-A saw a sales increase more than four times that of Starbucks at 16.7%.

There are more than 2,400 Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide, compared to more than 14,000 Starbucks’ and McDonald’s locations each.
