A man was caught on camera lashing out at a senior woman and telling her to “back the fu** up” after she asked him to put on a face mask as per the store’s policy.
The incident occurred in Fort Myers, Florida, where a man in a red ‘Running the World Since 1776’ T-shirt went on an expletive rant after being approached by an elderly lady and a man who asked him to put on a face mask.
While there are currently no state-wide requirements that would mandate people to wear face masks in public, Costco has come up with its own policy requiring all customers to wear a mask while in their stores.
In the footage shared on social media, the man is seen clenching his fists as he confronts the pair for talking to him.
“I feel threatened, I feel threatened! Back up! Threaten me again!” he shouted as he walked towards the senior woman. “Back the fu** up, put your fu**ing phone down.”
As one of the alleged victims of verbal abuse confirmed after the incident, Costco staff made sure they got back to their car safely.
“To give Costco the credit, they escorted him out and made me wait inside and monitored him until he left and then they sent someone with me to the car to make sure I’m okay,” they said.
