The knife-wielding man who killed one police officer and severely injured another has been identified as 25-year-old Noah Green.
NBC and the New York Post identified Green, who described himself as a ‘Follower of Farrakhan,’ as the perpetrator behind the fatal attack on the US capitol on Friday.
The suspect mowed down two Capitol police officers, killing Billy Evans, an 18-year veteran of the force and injuring another police officer.
Reports say that Green exited his blue Nissan Altima wielding a knife before being shot dead by other officers.
It was confirmed by Capitol Police that the other unidentified officer struck by Green’s vehicle is now in stable condition.
Facebook posts on Green’s now-deleted accounts speak of worries the federal government was targeting him with ‘mind control.’ He also praised Farrakhan for saving him.
Law enforcement sources said that Green was not known to the Washington DC police but he had a record in another state.
His removed-Facebook page showed that he was a fan of the leader of the Nation of Islam Louis Farrakhan. He shared posts where he said he was on a ‘spiritual journey’ after experiencing a ‘tough’ past.
One post dated March 17 read: “To be honest these past few years have been tough, and these past few months have been tougher. I have been tried with some of the biggest, unimaginable tests in my life.
“I am currently now unemployed after I left my job partly due to afflictions, but ultimately, in search of a spiritual journey.”
Green also described Farrakhan as “Jesus, the Messiah” and the “raiser of the dead to life, making the blind see, and the deaf hear.”
He continued: “I consider him my spiritual father. Without his guidance, his word, and his teachings that I’ve picked up on along the way, I would’ve been unable to continue.
“Preaching to the multitudes, calling a million black men to Washington, and standing up to the most powerful government of modern times. He has done miraculous work not just with me, but with the lives of millions.”
