Tired of plastic pollution and billions of straws that end up in the trash and our oceans every year, one man has invented straws made of pasta that you can either dispose of or eat after using.
Maxim Glemann has come up with a great idea to reduce plastic waste by inventing Stroodles, environmentally-friendly, waste-free straws.
“I worked in the commercial world for a long time, and I started to get sick of it. I’ve always really cared about the environment and I enjoy diving and travelling, so I was aware of the problem with plastic pollution,” he said in an interview with LADbible.
“I came across these fun, edible straws made of pasta and realized they could be used to cut down plastic waste.”
After launching the product in December, the pasta straws have quickly kicked off and gained popularity.
As Maxim added, the straws are vegan-friendly, flavorless, can be eaten, and decompose in less than a day.
“People do end up snacking on them, usually after a few gin and tonics,” he said.
“I’m not there to preach and tell people the world is going to die if they keep using plastic. Stroodles are fun to begin with and I think they encourage people to make realizations and think more about their choices.
“Subconsciously, I think it’s making a difference and they are helping both directly and indirectly.
“For me, the most rewarding thing is seeing people’s response to Stroodles. Kids like using them because they’re fun and, hopefully, they will grow up more aware of their impact and the environment.”
The straws are available in multiple bars and restaurants in Maxim’s native Britain as well as on Stroodles website.
