0001pt;">A man from New Jersey was driving his car wearing an N 95 mask. He passed out while driving and crashed his car into a telephone booth. The police officers reached the location.
They say that the accident would not have occurred if he did not have the mask on.
Amid the pandemic, people of the country are strictly asked to wear a mask when they get out in public in order to help restrain the virus from spreading.
But the Lincoln Park Police Department says that the masks can have negative effects too. The department said having the mask on for too long can cause a lack of oxygen supply which can cause trouble.
The cause of this accident is being considered the same because the man had a mask on.
LPPD responded to a single man car crash yesterday. The reason for the crash was stated to be the N 95 mask as the man wore it for too long resulting in cutting down of oxygen supply and intake of too much carbon dioxide.
To spread awareness on the same, LPPD said “It is important to understand that masks are useful in public spaces only. While you can keep a mask on while in a public space, it is not exactly vital. Social distancing can keep you safe.
When you are driving, especially when you are alone in a vehicle, there is no need for a mask because you are already inside a protective shield without any other occupant.”
LPPD also shared pictures of the accident. The pictures have a ruby-colored car with its front completely smashed. The pictures also show the telephone pole that the car crashed in. It was smashed from the lower side.
The man was rushed to the hospital after he complained of pain. Fortunately, he suffered no life-threatening injuries and was sent back home.
