An angry farmer has sparked outrage after tying a monkey down and spray painting the animal red to punish it for stealing his fruits.
The cruel man from Malaysia is believed to have caught the monkey stealing durians from his garden. He then tied the animal down and spray painted it red as punishment.
The monkey looked confused while the man scolded it for taking his durians. Its hands and legs were tied with string and spread on all fours, using fruits as weights.
Before the farmer told the monkey not to come back, he cursed the animal in the local dialect.
“I’m letting you go now, tell your friends don’t come back here to eat, do you understand? Don’t come here to eat, you wanna steal please go far away,” he said.
The video sparked anger from locals who were concerned about the welfare of the animal. They said the chemicals in the paint could’ve harmed the monkey’s health and they do not know if the monkey survived the incident.
“These fruits are nature’s gift from everybody to enjoy. There is no need to torture animals because of this. Why does somebody have to be so greedy?” one person commented.
“Poor monkey. I feel so sorry for him. They look so scared,” another wrote. “I hope it recovers from the cruel punishment. It was not to know it was doing anything wrong. It was just following its instincts to gather food.”
A third said: “Karma will come back around and hurt this guy. You may stop this monkey from eating your plants, but the other animals still can, or your tree could be knocked down in storm.”
