A man has been arrested and is facing jail time after licking the top of ice cream before sealing the lid and placing the tub back into the freezer.
36-year-old Lenise Martin III is one of many self-proclaimed ‘pranksters’ who resorted to the recent trend of licking ice cream at supermarkets in an attempt to be funny.
While others have gotten away with it, Martin was fortunately arrested and charged with the posting of criminal activity for publicity after he shared the video of himself licking ice cream before putting the tub back in the freezer online.
Despite showing the receipt and claiming he had bought the ice cream in question, Martin remains in custody “because at any rate, it’s a terrible thing to do.”
“Taking into consideration that he eventually purchased the same container is one thing,” Commander Lonny Cavalier said.
“However he puts it on Facebook to gain this notoriety and at the end of the day, it gives other people ideas that are not the best interest of public health.”
The incident follows days after a woman has gone viral after her friend uploaded a video of her performing a disturbing dare in which she licked the top of the ice cream before putting the full tub back in the freezer in a supermarket.
In the short footage, the woman is seen smiling from ear to ear while licking the top of the ice cream in a tub. She then puts the lid back on and places the container inside the freezer for the next customer to pick.
After the video was uploaded on Twitter and viewed over 8 million times, people suggested that the woman in question should be arrested for tampering with food and endangering other customers.
While the case is still being investigated, some reports have claimed that the woman in the video is from San Antonio and that the video was taken in a local Walmart.
