A 40-year-old man was left terrified when he spotted an injured leopard in the middle of the road in West Yorkshire.
Ben Lilly, from Halifax, West Yorkshire, was driving through Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire when he noticed something on the road.
It looked like as if a leopard lying down, injured on the road.
Ben got out of his car to help the injured leopard only to realize that it was just an ‘old tart’s coat’.
Ben admitted that he was terrified and worried about the leopard when he spotted it.
He got out of his car and approached the animal cautiously.
However, when he went closer to the animal, he found out it was some tart’s coat left by some weekend party-goers.
Ben shared the funny incident on Facebook.
He wrote: ‘Careful! Dead leopard in the road on way to Halifax!
Oh no, it’s some tart’s coat from last night, can’t believe I turned back for this!’
Ben’s post instantly went viral, leaving people in stitches.
Internet users said that they also had to look twice at the pictures as they mistook it for a leopard.
Ben later said: “My heart was racing with a kind of excitement.
I thought ‘is this a big cat?’ It would be an amazing thing to find.
I saw something in the distance as I was coming round the bend and slowed down, giving it a wide berth in case it was an injured animal.”
“As I passed it, I looked out the passenger’s window and saw the markings on it.
It had the tail bit on it too, so it looked really real while I was driving. I thought “wow”.
You hear of these sightings of big cats and around the Halifax area, there have been reports before.
I spun round where I could, turned round and drove back along.
I looked again – it looked real. I then parked behind it and looked from within the car.”
“I got out cautiously, because I didn’t want something taking my face off, but as soon as I looked at it from the other angle I started laughing.”
He said that he was ready to take a picture of the injured leopard for his girlfriend but then realized that it was just a tart’s coat.
After the post went viral, Ben came to know that he wasn’t the only one who had seen the coat.
Other people also claimed that they had also seen the same coat lying in the middle of the road.
