After lifting the lid, he was shocked to see the reptile relaxing in the toilet’s water with its body positioned in an ‘S’ shape. It somehow managed to enter through the outdoor pipe.

Stewart Lalor from Brisbane Snake Catchers received an emergency call and drove to the Wynnum west family home at about 6:45 am.

He said: “They gave us a call to have it removed so they could finish their business in peace.”

Mr. Lalor told Daily Mail: “I just put on a pair of gloves and dunked my hand in to take the snake. Carpet pythons are very common in Queensland.” He also said that it was not common to find snakes in toilet bowls, with at least two cases every season.

“People think pythons always want to be in the sun but they can also overheat and need to find ways to cool down,” he added.

Snakes usually slither into houses through unsecured pipes and open drains common in older designed homes such as the family house Mr. Lalor visited.

The most commonly caught non-venomous snake in Queensland are carpet phytons but their bites leave a substantial laceration and leave a bit of bleeding.

According to the Queensland Museum, they can grow up to over 3 meters in length.
