A 23-year-old man has been charged with breaking into a funeral home and having sex with a dead body in a coffin.
Khurum Shazada is accused of trespass over an alleged incident at Central England Co-operative in Birmingham and sexual penetration of the corpse.
The jobless man appeared before JPs and was remanded in custody. Shazada will appear before crown court to enter a plea.
The surprising incident has taken place on November 11. It is believed family members of the deceased have been informed of what happened.
According to The Sun, it is understood police officers have DNA linking Shazada, who lives nearby Aston.
A spokesperson for West Midlands police said: “An unemployed Birmingham man has been charged with sexual penetration of a corpse and trespass following a break-in at a Co-op funeral parlour in Great Barr on Sunday 11 November.
“Khurum Shazada, 23, appeared at Birmingham magistrates’ court on Wednesday 21 November and was remanded into custody.”
One Facebook user commented: “Is it me or is there an increase in the number of weirdos about?”
Another wrote: “Jesus christ almighty, is nothing sacred anymore? Is this what humanity is being reduced to? What the hell is wrong with people? For all those making jokes, just imagine that you’ve just been bereaved and then the funeral home has to tell you that your loved one/friend has been sexually assaulted?
“Would it still be funny then? What if they had been assaulted when they were alive? Still funny? When you have been the victim, let me tell you there’s nothing funny about sexual assault, regardless of whether the victim of the crime is alive or deceased.”
A third said: “All people making a joke yous are clearly as sick as the freak who did this as laughing at it is as good as agreeing with it you all need help, imagine it was your mum sister or child pure evil and just not funny!”
