A man wielding an American flag was caught on camera shouting at protesters and telling them they don’t represent Black lives.
The confrontation occurred outside the Federal Courthouse in Portland where an unidentified man equipped with an American flag yelled at protesters who were trying to rip down the fence.
“If you stand for justice come here and stand with me, stand with me because I stand for justice. I’m not here to tear down this fu**ing fence, I’m not here to spray-paint,” the unknown man shouted at the angry mob.
According to the police, the fence surrounding the federal courthouse was torn down and made into barricades by protesters on Saturday. The protesters allegedly also broke into the building and set it on fire.
“It’s going on every day. If you don’t want to get gassed, stop! It has to stop! None of you guys represent Black lives,” the anti-protester added.
Meanwhile, on Saturday evening, a group of protesters set the Portland Police Association building on fire and taunted the officers who showed up for duty.
According to the reports, the demonstrators were hurling rocks and balloons filled with paint at the police, leaving some officers injured. The protest was subsequently declared a riot by Portland Police.
“As the crowd was dispersed, several people in the crowd were arrested and officers were able to extinguish the fire. Portland Police did not use any CS gas,” the authorities confirmed in a Sunday statement.
The escalations follow as federal troops have been deployed to assist Portland Police in an attempt to maintain order, protect federal property, and arrest violent protesters. Federal officers without identification badges have been seen arresting protesters and taking them away in unmarked vehicles.
