A 41-year-old man who filmed a naked woman sleeping in her hotel room was spared jail.
Christopher Killick celebrated as he left the court with a fine. He also stopped for cameramen, saying: “Thank you for waiting for me.”
Killick was at Stratford Magistrates’ Court over an incident in May 2015 when his victim, Emily Hunt, woke up next to him at a 5-star hotel with no memories of the night before.
Killick admitted to authorities that he had filmed a video of her while she was sleeping without clothes on to ‘masturbate to later.’
His bag also contained Viagra, condoms, and what was believed to be the hallucinogenic drug LSD. Condoms were also found in the hotel room.
Killick was first arrested on suspicion of rate but was released because of a lack of evidence.
But the Crown Prosecution Service eventually charged him with voyeurism due to the persistence of the victim, who admitted she returned to the hotel room and attempted to commit suicide.
But today, Killick avoided jail and was ordered to pay Ms. Hunt £5,000. He was registered as a sex offender and handed a restraining order.
Ms. Hunt said in a statement that it was ‘appalling’ that her fight for justice had lasted 5 years. “I am very pleased with the sentence passed by the court today and the powerful comments made by the judge,” she expressed.
“The recognition that this was a serious sexual offence, and the acknowledgement of the devastating impact it has had on my life, is the most important thing to me,” Ms. Hunt added.
“It is appalling that it has taken five years of fighting to get to this point. I hope that in future no other victim of a sexual offence has to go through what I have experienced.
“I want to thank everyone who has supported me up to this point. This would not have happened without you.”
