A man has come under fire on social media after revealing he had banned his fiancée from wearing a white wedding dress because she is not a virgin.
The 32-year-old unnamed man took to Reddit in an attempt to get people to help him understand why his 23-year-old girlfriend was upset with him.
As the man revealed in his post, he comes from a very religious family and doesn’t want his fiancée to wear a white wedding dress because she is no longer a virgin.
“So me and my soon-to-be wife are planning to get married in a few months. I come from a very religious household with strong Christian beliefs and one of the traditions in my family is if the woman getting married isn’t still a virgin they shouldn’t wear a white dress on their wedding day,” he wrote.
“My family knows my soon to be wife wasn’t a virgin when I met her because my mom asked me when I started dating her if she was pure, and I was honest and told her she had boyfriends before she met me.”
As the 32-year-old went on to say, his partner was “really upset” after he told her to wear a colored dress on their wedding day instead.
While the girl allegedly agreed to wear a glittery blue dress, she is now, much to the guy’s surprise, having second doubts about marrying the man.
“She’s saying she won’t marry me because she’s too humiliated by the whole situation, but I really don’t see how it’s a big deal,” the 32-year-old concluded.
While the man clearly didn’t believe he did anything wrong when he posted his story on Reddit, people were less than happy with the way he’s treating his fiancée.
“Making her parade down the aisle in something so ridiculous it’s like you’re trying to pin a giant scarlet letter on her. I think if you have such a poor opinion of her and want to cause her public embarrassment you should do her a favor and break up now,” someone wrote in response.
“For a dude marrying a girl nearly a decade younger, you sure are worried about what mommy thinks,” another one said.
One person wrote: “I just can’t get over the grossness factor of how the mother of a 30+ year old divorced man is concerned about the sexual experience of his new girlfriend who is a decade his junior.”
