A 29-year-old makeup artist who applied fake tan before watching an emotional movie suffered an epic tan fail.
Josh Reade just wanted to have a relaxing night by watching My Sister’s Keeper after applying a layer of St. Moriz Tanning Mist.
But the next morning, he was horrified to see streaks of tears all the way to his jawline.
Josh recorded a video of him talking about the embarrassing incident and sent it to his friends, who begged him to share it on TikTok.
“It was having a little bit of a pamper night and decided to watch My Sister’s Keeper – it’s a very, very sad film,” he said.
“I did the tan, I watched the film and then went to bed. I set my alarm because I was doing a make-up look early in the morning and that’s how I woke up with all these tear marks.
“I was so shocked and I was panicking. I was like ‘oh my god, what am I going to do?’ It was really bad.”
Josh from Staines, Surrey applied a layer of St. Moriz before settling down in front of the television to watch My Sister’s Keeper.
“I put the tan on an hour before I sat in front of the TV,” he said. “It says to leave it on for six hours but anyone who’s going to use it is just going to sleep in it and wake up in it the next morning.
“It was a six-hour spray mist that turned into a bit of a disaster. I watched the film and had a good cry at it and dabbed my eyes.
“I was grabbing my top and patting my eyes lightly as I knew I’d tanned my face, I must have cried to the point where I was genuinely tired.”
He continued: “I went to bed, fell asleep and woke up at 4.30am. When I looked at my face in the mirror before I jumped in the shower I just thought ‘oh no, it can’t be’.
“Me being me I grabbed my phone, it was more of a video for the girls in the group chat and was like ‘oh my god what am I going to do?’ They were all screaming.
“I showed it to another friend and she had tears rolling down her face. She said it was hilarious and that I should post it on TikTok.”
His video gained more than 5,000 comments and over 3.3 million views.
“I only had a tiny tear mark left after my shower that thankfully when I put make-up on, you couldn’t see,” he added.
“It’s not put me off tanning for life. When I washed it off I looked amazing, I looked like I’d been to Morocco for a week.”
