A Man Was Dumped By His Girlfriend After Being Misdiagnosed With STD Which Was Actually Terminal Cancer


A dad-of-seven who was misdiagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection found out he was actually suffering from terminal cancer.

Tony Stevens and his partner Trisha parted their ways when doctors informed an STD virus was responsible for his night sweats and weight loss.

His partner thought he was cheating on her because the doctor told him he had caught an STD. But months later Tony has been told that he actually has a rare form of cancer called nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma.

According to doctors, Tony has only five years to live. Tony and Trisha have reunited and are now wishing to raise to buy a specialized pneumatic pump to alleviate the swelling in Tony’s legs.

Tony from Royal Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire, said: “Trisha obviously thought I was up to something. They told me I had a sexually transmitted disease.

“It has been a tough long road. I felt alone – I didn’t know where to turn. [But] my partner understood when I got my diagnosis. Since then things have spun round.”

He was flown to the hospital a month after being told to have some of the nodes in his groin removed. Tony was told he had lymphoedema, when parts of the body swell, which can be caused by cancer.

Tony then underwent radiotherapy at another facility and is now on end-of-life care. He said: “I’m at a high risk of getting more infections so they’re keeping an eye on that. I’m under palliative care now. I’m on benefits because I can’t work and my partner looks after me.”

“It has just been a struggle dealing with it all and dealing with everyday life. So I’m raising money to get a pump so I can move around more and help around the house.”

To help his circulation, Tony is relying on using compression socks and wraps. He said: “It’s been very tough we have been stuck inside not able to go out with the kids.

“I would love to just take them away to get away from it all. They’re constantly surrounded by the situation.” Any extra funding raised will be utilized to take the children on holiday.
