A Florida man was arrested after driving in his car on a closed beach because he was bored amid the coronavirus lockdown.
The incident occurred on the Sand Key Beach in Florida where 25-year-old John McGarry from Idaho was spotted driving at 35 miles per hour.
After the police arrived at the scene, McGarry allegedly attempted to make a getaway before leading the cops to the parking lot of a nearby resort.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, the 25-year-old claimed he had taken to the beach in his vehicle because he was bored.
As per the regulations, however, driving on the sand of the aforementioned beach is not allowed even when it is open.
Following the arrest, the Clearwater Police confirmed that the man was charged with reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, and resisting arrest.
Meanwhile, over in Chicago, hundreds of people defied social distancing orders as they gathered at a massive home party.
The event occurred in the West Side of Chicago where around one thousand partygoers allegedly attended a home party involving drinking and dancing.
As seen in the photos and videos from the party that emerged on social media, the home was entirely packed with people whereas some were standing just inches apart.
The defiant party took place as all gatherings consisting of more than ten people have been banned in an attempt to prevent the spreading of the novel coronavirus.
As one young attendee allegedly told the MTO News, “about 1,000 people [gathered] in the yard and in the house. It was really crowded and hot.”
The 23-year-old woman allegedly went on to say that she wasn’t worried about the virus at all.
“But if I didn’t have it before, I probably got it now. Oh well,” she added.
