An Indiana man waiting for his $1,700 stimulus check got the shock of his life when he found $8 million in his bank account!
When Charles Calvin checked his bank account to see if he received the stimulus money to cover himself and his child, he couldn’t believe his eyes as $8.2 million had been deposited into his account.
A volunteer firefighter in Indiana, Calvin said: “I went to the ATM at the Family Express and once I withdrew $200 out of my account I looked at the available balance still left in my account.”
He initially thought there was some error in the machine so he tried to run his card one more time to check his balance but it showed him the same results.
Calvin then contacted his bank and was told the money was no longer in his checking account but his stimulus money was still there.
Speaking about the moment he became an instant millionaire, he said: “It kind of sucks. You go from being a millionaire one second then back to being broke again. But hey, once you’re poor you don’t have anywhere else to go but up.”
While he’s not sure if the receipt was an error from the ATM he used or mistake made by the federal government, he is still happy that he received stimulus money.
One internet user commented: “Honesty is the best policy as painful as it sound. If you are honest you walk with confidence, you are not afraid of anything. Clear conscience fears to accusations.”
Another wrote: “He should earn some interest on that high amount. Even though it was just in his account for a few days. I think the bank owes him that much, since he could have transferred the money to a Swiss bank and closed up the account.”
A third added: “Ha! If I were him, I would put that receipt in a frame to laugh about it for years to come! Good luck to you Mr. Calvin!”
