As technology is advancing, it is becoming more and more difficult to cheat on your partner without getting caught.
The case we are looking into today is one of its kind, where a Fitbit’s physical activity monitoring got a man caught for cheating.
Jane Slater, who is a correspondent with NFL, caught her boyfriend cheating on her when his Fitbit showed unusual physical activity at four in the morning – a time he was supposed to be sleeping.
Jane’s ex-boyfriend most probably forgot that he had synced his tracker with Jane’s so that they could keep an eye on each other’s activity and be a source of motivation for each other.
Jane who has more than 123,000 Twitter followers revealed the story on the micro-blogging platform, saying: “An Ex-Boyfriend once got me a Fitbit for Christmas. I loved it. We synched up, motivated each other…
“Didn’t hate it until he was unaccounted for at 4 am and his physical activity levels were spiking on the app – wish the story wasn’t real.”
She followed up with another tweet, that said: “Spoiler alert: he was not enrolled in an OrangeTheory class at 4am.”
Orange Theory is a fitness company based in the US known for providing high-intensity trainer-guided workouts.
There were no further details by the deceived girlfriend.
We can only imagine how it would have been for the poor boyfriend to explain what he was doing at that time in the night and how difficult it would have been for him to try his way out of the situation.
Looks like he suddenly went from ‘in a relationship’ to ‘single’ the instant Jane found out about his late-night ‘exercise.’
Jane is probably looking for someone else now, most probably one who doesn’t have that sort of ‘fitness routine.’
Her tweet got a number of mixed comments and reactions from her followers.
One person commented: “My ex husband got caught in an affair because he was wearing the training watch and heartbeat monitor my mom bought him for Christmas – while ‘running.’
“It was the under-one-minute heart rate spike that confirmed things for me!”
Another said: “Called my ex repeatedly one night without any answer which was v bizarre ESPECIALLY bc it was my bday…. continued calling throughout the night until he accidentally picked up on his Apple watch, mid f*** with another girl from his hometown L O L good times.”
Jane also commented on her own post, narrating another similar incident.
“I also had a guy get drunk and bring another girl home forgetting I was spending the night there,” she wrote. “We were set to go to church the next morning and I stayed in to get sleep. I could write a book.”
