A man decided to fly all the way from Canada to Germany to complain about his $155,000 Mercedes car.

Da Tong Yang and his wife Guifang Huo had bought the vehicle, an S550 model sedan, in 2017. They believed at the time of purchase that the model was one of the safest cars in the world.

But after a year, the couple claimed that the vehicle’s steering locked while they were traveling in Vancouver.

Their car was taken to Mercedes-Benz Richmond Service Center where engineers said the problem was an ‘internal electrical issue in the power steering rack and pinion gear.’

But Mrs. Huo demanded a refund or a replacement, refusing to accept their car.

The couple then filed a lawsuit against the company, claiming to have suffered financially, mentally, and physically because of the car.

But because of the slow process in courts, Mr. Yang decided to fly all the way from Canada to the Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Germany.

Upon arriving in Mercedes-Benz’s offices in Stuttgart, he was given a tour of the offices.

In an interview with Richmond News, Mr. Yang said he went to Germany to get ‘justice’ but instead they received an email telling them that the firm would look into the problem.

Mrs. Huo then claims that the fault with the car caused them “considerable mental distress and anxiety, including fear for their family’s safety and the safety of the general public.”

They also argue that the vehicle was “’unreliable, unsafe, and does not provide the peace of mind a luxury vehicle should,” and that the company “breached its warranty of fitness” as the car “had a potentially fatal defect that caused failure.”

Mrs. Huo is now seeking damages and financial compensation from the firm.

The company has denied that the fault with the car’s steering affected the brakes and that it caused “any personal injury or property damage.”

Mercedes-Benz claims it fixed the problem, returned the vehicle to the couple, and explained what had happened to the owner.
