A man was arrested after breaking into a bank in the middle of the night and stealing a bottle of hand sanitizer.
The incident occurred in Sioux City, Iowa, where 39-year-old Mark Gray went on a crime spree that involved breaking into Security National Bank and robbing the place of hand sanitizer.
As per the arrest documents secured by The Smoking Gun, Gray broke into the branch located on Pierce Street by using a tool to smash the door.
According to the arrest affidavit, the robber then proceeded by making his way into the lobby before stealing a bottle of hand sanitizer and fleeing the scene.
Presumably unhappy with his loot, the 39-year-old then paid a visit to the Counseling and Support Services building where he once again forced his entry in search of valuables.
According to the police, it is unclear whether the man had stolen anything from the center before departing and resuming his crime spree.
As for his final stop, Gray paid a visit to an Italian restaurant called Trattoria Fresco where he was caught by the police just before six in the morning on Tuesday.
After he was brought in for questioning, the man allegedly told the police he was searching “around for things of value, specifically money in order to take it.” As per the affidavit, the suspect also revealed he went on a crime spree because “he needed money.”
Following his arrest, Gray was booked into county jail and charged with three counts of third-degree burglary. He is set to appear in court on August 14.
