A father has been left furious after his girlfriend broke the agreement they had by choosing a different name for their baby.
As the upset father explained in his Reddit post, he and his girlfriend decided to start a family years after becoming an item. He also insisted that the pair got together shortly after his girlfriend got out of a longtime relationship.
Over time, the woman appeared to have moved on from her past relationship and even proceeded to introduce her ex to her new boyfriend.
Eventually, the new couple decided to start their own family and got pregnant with their first child. After some arguing about the name, the couple allegedly reached common grounds and decided on a few names that they both liked.
Following their son’s birth, however, the man was shocked to discover that his girlfriend had named their baby after her ex when he went to sign the birth certificate.
According to the upset father, his partner used both her ex-boyfriend’s first and middle names when naming their baby.
After the discovery, the dad confronted his partner about the name and refused to sign the baby’s birth certificate. Meanwhile, his girlfriend defended her decision by calling it a “spur of the moment thing.”
“She’s been fobbing me off for a few days now so in the end I told her, calmly, that I’m not signing the birth certificate until we change the name back to what we agreed,” he wrote.
“This caused a bit of a row with her and she’s now refusing to talk to me until I sign the certificate and agree to the name.”
The man went on to express his concerns by saying he was left wondering if he should get a paternity test since his partner’s ex lives in the same town as them.
“I’m now plagued with doubt and wondering if I should get a paternity test or whether she’s still in love with him,” he added.
