A man got arrested and charged with trespassing after entering a zoo to feed the animals amid coronavirus lockdown.
As MailOnline reported, Minh Nguyen and his three friends got apprehended after taking to the Phuket Zoo in Thailand to feed the animals that they believed to be hungry.
As the man claimed, his group received permission to enter the premises from the mother of the zoo owner.
Nevertheless, the group was arrested and charged with trespassing, something that Nguyen’s attorney refers to as a “misunderstanding.”
Previously, Mr. Nguyen raised more than $45,000 via GoFundMe with the purpose of feeding the animals at the Phuket Zoo during the lockdown.
Speaking of the incident, Nguyen allegedly said:
“When we did get charged and arrested, the older brother and mother [of the owner] came down to be witnesses for us.
“There is a bit of a divide among the shareholders as to how the zoo should run. I’ll be going to court on May 25. That’s when I will know if they want to make a case of it or not, but I doubt they will… I just want to help the animals.”
As Mr. Nguyen previously claimed, he spoke with the zoo owner and learned that they had no money to feed the animals.
Striking back at the claim, however, was the owner who insisted that “the animals were not left to starve.”
Following an inquest into the matter, the wildlife authorities confirmed that “the zoo has enough food to feed the animals.”
As Nguyen stated on his GoFundMe page, his group’s intention was only to help the animals.
“Our purpose and end goal is to save the animals and have them rehabilitated/rescued safely. Please help in any way you can. All proceeds will go towards saving and rescuing these animals,” the page read.
