A man in his 30s has been arrested after firing imitation guns while rapping to Tupac on the balcony of his apartment in Kent.
Police officers arrived at the scene after reports of a man firing shots from his balcony, according to Kent Online.
Videos shared online showed the aspiring rapper shooting into the air during a live stream. He also posted videos on his social media, which authorities have since said they believe to be imitations.
In another video, the man stepped outside and shot into the air multiple times. His Instagram account has since been deactivated or removed.
“Kent Police was called at 8.35am on Wednesday 22 April 2020 to a disturbance at a flat on Dock Head Road, Chatham,” said a spokesperson for Kent Police. Members of the public reported seeing a man on a balcony with weapons and patrols, including armed officers, attended the scene.
“The police helicopter was also deployed and a man in 30s has now been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences. Patrols remain at the scene where officers have located four suspected imitation firearms as part of their enquiries.”
One local resident told Kent Online: “There was a lot of banging just over an hour ago, I just assumed it was construction workers.
“There were armed police outside The Range who waved everyone back, they moved towards the noise. Staff at The Range have been trying to catch everyone and get them into the shop.
“Someone across the way shouted about someone having a gun. There’s a police helicopter flying above.”
One person who claimed to live in the same block wrote on social media: “The guy is on top of the penthouse with a machine gun, and a rifle and a pistol.
“He’s shooting at the police. I think he doesn’t want anyone else, he wants the police. There is a helicopter now with eyes on him, and the police have got him as well. It’s crazy.
“I think they are going to move in. The police are moving in. They are going in. He’s shooting. The police are coming out of the trees.”
