A man who claimed he was left “devastated” after being served a pork muffin instead of the meat-free alternative he requested is seeking an apology and compensation from McDonald’s.
49-year-old Fida Hussain from Birmingham, UK, was at a McDonald’s branch in Small Heath when he was handed over a pork muffin rather than the egg & cheese muffin he ordered.
As the Muslim man added, he didn’t notice there was meat inside his meal until he had already bitten deep into it.
Following the incident, the man has spoken out and claimed he is “devastated” because he has been trying his best to avoid pork for his entire life due to his religion.
“I trusted them. I was watching Judge Judy and bit into the McMuffin and knew instantly when I tasted it that it was meat,” Hussain expressed.
As the man claimed, he instantly spat the meat out because it tasted “horrible.”
“It’s just completely wrong. It’s a sensitive subject, it could happen to anyone, vegan or if a person is on a particular diet,” he added.
After discovering meat in his order, Hussain returned to the branch in question and confronted the staff who allegedly told him to keep things quiet and file a complaint online instead.
“The woman tried to tell me ‘can we keep it quiet and deal with it in store’ but obviously I was not happy at all,” he added.
Later on, he was also offered a real cheese McMuffin as compensation.
As the upset man continued, however, he was angered once more because the main office allegedly sent him an e-mail claiming that the issue was resolved successfully after he accepted the replacement.
“I would like an apology and financial compensation. I’m devastated. It’s put me off McDonald’s and I’m mortified. It’s diabolical for a professional retailer that’s worldwide,” Hussain added.
