According to Carter, who is a salon owner, he wanted the siblings to stay together – something that he didn’t have the chance to experience after he got separated from his siblings when he was 12.

While the businessman initially adopted three young boys back in 2018, he couldn’t be at peace knowing that their two sisters were still out there.

After reaching out to the little girls’ foster moms, Carter set up a reunion for the siblings.

“The kids saw each other and started hugging and crying and wouldn’t let go. That was the moment I said, ‘Okay I’m going to take all five,’” he said.

“I know the pain of being separated too well and I could not let that happen to them.”

As Carter, who is gay, admitted, he always knew he would have to adopt in order to have kids. Since he was separated from his eight siblings after entering a foster home at the age of 12, he also knew he wanted his sons to be permanently reunited with their sisters.

“My five kids are amazing. A lot of people think it’s hard if you’re by yourself or don’t have a house, but it’s a lot easier than people think it’s going to be and kids need parents whether it’s two or one,” the proud father-of-five expressed.
