Have you ever unexpectedly met an old friend or someone from your hometown someplace far away like all the way across the country or maybe even somewhere abroad? Imagine how surprised yet happy you must have felt and how you must have excitedly greeted each other at the chance to reconnect.

That’s what happened to a Moluccan Cockatoo named Max when he suddenly met Q, a younger female Moluccan, inside a pet store. The way they greeted each other was both contagious and hilarious and people just had to whip out their cellphones in order to capture the adorable pair making excited sounds at seeing each other. Max’s weird shout was enough to draw laughter from the audience and giggles from the kids.

Max is a 25-year-old male who thinks the world revolves around him and that humans are ridiculous. And that’s why this unexpected encounter with Q was even more hilarious. If you think about it, Max was either excited or indignant at having someone share the spotlight with him!

Max is just one of a flock of motley birds composed of Tycho (a 23-year-old African Grey who’s afraid of cameras) and Tikal (a 44-year-old Amazon parrot who loves saying hello). The trio is enough to drive their owner, a featherless biped, crazy with their antics. But they’re all loved anyway.

Max was actually rescued when he was 10 years old. His previous owners confined him in a basement and even after his rescue, he displayed signs of anxiety and stress at the start. He would constantly scream and sometimes bite back so violently that it wouldn’t be safe to handle him. Suffice it to say, Max has come a long way since those days and is actually quite social and friendly now as the video shows.

Also known as Salmon-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua moluccensis), Moluccan Cockatoos have a lifespan of 60 to 80 years. Their trademark peach color with bright Salmon-colored crest easily marks them out. They need adequate nutrition, care and a lot of attention just like all parrots.
