A makeup artist and a beauty blogger have been slammed by vile comments and threats of egging before his appearance in Seven’s Sunrise morning show.
19-year-old James Charles flew to Australia to take part in the show and talk about his greatest passion – makeup.
Before the young YouTuber could take part in the show, however, social media users shamed him and even went as far as threatening to egg him.
“Oh god, Australia. Time to bleach your eyes and block your ears,” one upset viewer wrote on Facebook after learning that the 19-year-old would be featured in the show.
“Yuck. Why is this happening?” another one wrote, while several people called James a “thing” and questioned, “What the f*** is that.”
Mr. Charles has become a renowned YouTube celebrity after he began sharing makeup tutorials on the platform. Nowadays, he has over 16 million followers who can’t wait for him to share new videos.
With great fame, however, comes a great burden. James has long been a laughing stock of people who can’t accept what he’s doing despite his best intentions.
“I’d rather have as power outage than give him time” one commenter expressed, while another one said: “If they get him to sing I’m going to throw my TV out.”
Fortunately for the young artist, plenty of people rushed to his aid and defended his profession.
“Didn’t realize Australia still had so many close-minded and homophobic people,” one fan wrote.
“Wow imagine hating on a successful young Man because he challenges societal norms and your toxic masculinity? Can’t relate,” another one said.
The YouTuber was recently scrutinized and accused of being transphobic after addressing his “brothers & sisters” in a video. The 19-year-old later apologized and wrote:
“I unintentionally implied that my trans brothers & sisters aren’t valid. this is NOT what I was trying to say. you are valid in your identity!! I apologize & should’ve chosen my words wiser!”
James has also been slammed for his ultra-high prices, as he charges his VIP fans as much as $500 simply for meeting and greeting them.
