Scottish great-grandmother Marjorie Lamb turns 100 on the last day of May. Just like Col. Moore, she has set up an online fundraiser to help the NHS staff in Scotland by walking 100 laps around her garden. Her goal was to raise £1,000. As of this writing, she has raised over £12,000.

As Wren 1st Officer during WWII, Lamb was deployed to Egypt in 1939 along with the Women’s Royal Naval Service. She was only a teenager then, but said she knew that she had heard and responded to the call of duty.

According to her biography introduced in the Association of Wrens, Lamb’s role during the war was to decode Allied messages that discussed the location of German U-Boats. One can hardly fathom how many Allied soldiers Lamb has saved via her work.

Lamb said that she met her husband while she was stationed at Invergordon. In the same biography, Lamb is quoted as saying “You never stop being in the Wrens. You never stop being in the Navy”.

To this hero, to sit idly as healthcare workers dedicate themselves to save lives would have been unimaginable. After hearing about the great work Col. Moore did, Lamb decided to do the same and said she will use the money to provide PPEs to healthcare workers.

Her son had confirmed this much previously in an interview with the Daily Record. He said that his mother very much still feels the need to do something if she knows she can do it for herself. Knowing that the healthcare workers were in desperate need of PPEs, she just couldn’t sit around.

In an TV interview with Good Morning Britain, Lamb joked that she could one-up Col. Moore as she doesn’t need to rely on a trolley as much as he did. In all seriousness, she said that Tom was tremendous, and that she will get to finishing the remaining 51 laps before her birthday.
