Macy Gray Wants To Change The Flag’s Design And Doesn’t “See What The Big Deal is”

There has been a lot of outrage from the Republican Party after Macy Gray’s suggestion for changing the national flag.

She wanted to add two stars and turn some of them brown. She tells the public that she doesn’t understand why there is backlash, and cannot see what the “tragedy is”. The reasoning she gave from even suggesting a new flag is because it was “time for a change” for having the same design for sixty years.

Gray had opened up debates on the flag’s design, submitting her own to MarketWatch because the Old Glory design is “tattered and divisive”.

By using the old flag’s symbol and recalling the events that happened during the Capitol Hill riots, the flag has been “weaponized” and can send a confusing message to Americans who do not want to salute.

She recently had an interview with Dailymail.com, and says that she is “absolutely a proud American” who loves her country, hence the confusion as to why people were critiquing and criticizing for her to leave if she doesn’t like the current design of the flag.

In the interview she comments, “I never said that I didn’t like my country. I love it here. I never even said I didn’t like the flag! I said it was confusing and represents something else. The flag is about 60 years old now. I personally don’t see like what the tragedy is… it’s inevitable. It’s going to change.”

She hasn’t heard back from anybody in Washington who might want to adopt her design. She said that she would try to start contacting lawmakers who think they can help her, but has no clue on who to ask yet.

The design she is trying to push forward is actually not her own design, but an anonymous artist who works for the government. The flags are supposed to represent the melanin scale, and her next step did not go as planned. She thought that people would send her more ideas to try to change the design now.

Gray comments that “people will think I’m crazy but I really didn’t see all this crazy stuff coming”.
