The movies are long over and Harry Potter fans must have read the books at least twice over but there’s certainly no getting over the wonder that the Potterverse has given us.
And now, there’s another must-see destination for fans of the series in the form of a replica of Hagrid’s Cottage in North Yorkshire.
But don’t worry, it wouldn’t do for guests to stay in a run-down hovel so this replica is actually a luxury version of the cottage found in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Officially called Hagrid’s Hogwarts Groundskeeper Cottage, it recently opened at a unique holiday camp near Saltburn, near the North York Moors National Park.
The owners opened up the cottage just in time to celebrate Harry Potter Day on May 2.
So what sort of mythical and magical getaway can you expect once you check in?
First, there are stained glass windows just like in the actual Hogwarts school. It also boasts a huge fireplace and can sleep up to six people. There’s one double room, a comfy sofa bed, and a set of bunk beds. And for those in need of a relaxing soak, there’s a gigantic free-standing copper bath you can take advantage of.
It’s the perfect getaway for a family of Potterheads.
The decor is very much in keeping with the Harry Potter theme. The bathroom boasts green tiles (a nod to Slytherin) while bits and bobs are scattered all over the place, just like in Hagrid’s actual cabin. There are even a quill and some ink that add a nice touch.
The cottage is also dog-friendly so it’s no problem to bring your furry friend over. It only makes sense since Hagrid loved animals and also had Fang the bloodhound, right?
Such attention to detail was only possible because owner Carol is a huge Harry Potter fan.
Carol said: “Books have always been an important part of my life even after being diagnosed with dyslexia when I taught myself to read.
“They’ve also helped me through challenging times when I would turn to the Harry Potter books and Lord of the Rings for pure escapism.
“That’s why it is so fantastic to create an environment where others can also leave behind their everyday life and step into their favorite storybook.”
This is definitely one place that Harry Potter fans should try out at least once.
