Louis’ Historic Honiton Lace Christening Robe Is A Replica Of Christening Gown Made For Queen Victoria’s Daughter In 1841


Prince Louis wore the historic Honiton lace christening robe on her christening, becoming the eighth Royal baby to be christened in the Honiton gown.

The Honiton lace christening robe is a replica of the christening gown made for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter. It was used for all Royal baptisms until Lady Louise Windsor’s in 2004.

The replica was first used at the christening of James, Viscount Severn in 2008. Lord Frederick Windsor’s daughter Maud, Zara Tindall’s little girl, Mia, and Louis older siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte also wore the same gown.

Prince Louis is the eighth Royal baby to be christened in the Honiton lace christening gown.

The beautiful lace and satin gown was created by the Queen’s dresser Angela Kelly. But, this is a replica of the original gown.

The original gown that was made in 1841 has now been carefully preserved. It was worn by the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry among others.

Prince Louis’ christening service took place in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace.
