Nothing is as heartbreaking for parents as watching their kids die in front of their eyes.
For Rebecca and Will, the New Year brought nothing but took away their little girl.
Esme Handley was three years old and suffering from leukemia when she died on New Year’s Day.
Esme was diagnosed with blood cancer when she was just 22 months old after suffering a bruise. The parents revealed the heart-wrenching news of their daughter’s death on their daughter’s Facebook page, Esme Lionheart.
Both Rebecca and Will have been trying their best to save their daughter’s life since the day she was diagnosed with blood cancer.
From treatment to medications, they have provided Esme with everything that can possibly rescue her from the wraths of the life-threatening disease.
Esme developed a bruise that failed to disappear even after weeks. The couple Googled the condition and the symptoms left them in grave concern.
They didn’t waste much time to get Esme diagnosed. Esme was diagnosed with blood cancer at a hospital in Greece.
In September 2018, Esme was given a stem cell transplant, but after six months of the surgery, leukemia returned to the bone marrow.
The family wasn’t financially ready for the second transplant that cost hefty. In November, Esme’s parents started believing that there’s nothing that can be done to save their daughter’s life. They said Esme has enough of everything.
They have discussed Emse’s condition with all possible pediatrics and cancer experts but the answer remains the same, nothing can be done to save Esme’s life.
Since the diagnosis, Esme’s body had been pumping with drugs and tons of blood transfusions. It is more than a kid could take.
Her parents are quite relieved that their daughter died peacefully in their arms and now she doesn’t have to suffer any of the pain.
