It is so disgusting that we underestimate the people who are born with some disability without taking care of their feelings.
This story of 19 years old Gabe Adam will surely teach you empathy as you should keep yourself in other shoes just to get an idea that how they suffer.
Adam suffered from Han hart syndrome since his birth. The legs, arms, mouth, and jaw of such persons do not develop.
Gabe was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and he had no limbs. When he was still an infant he was adopted by American parents and was shifted to the U.S. the place where Gabe was brought up was Kaysville Utah and he had 13 brothers and sisters.
Now Gabe is a motivational speaker and a breakdancer and has graduated from high school. He positively responds to the questions regarding his physical appearance such as limbs.
He never took his disability as a hurdle or never did he say that he was living a hard life as according to Gabe one’s life is not hard unless one makes it. It was due to his parents that he started living an independent life.
His parents did not encourage him to be dependent on someone that is the reason he started using a wheelchair at a very early stage.
It was obviously hard for his parents to raise such a child they, however, taught him how to survive in the toughest situation. Nonetheless, it was emotional for Gabe and his parent’s as well.
He had to write with the help of the shoulder and cheek, he had to take shower by squeezing the shampoo in the shower and then rubbing his head with shower and even texting with lips. At first, Gabe though his parents to be cruel now thanks to them for not making him independent.
Even his classmates called him “god’s mistake” Landen observed him broken and crushed when they came back from school every day.
It was Gabe’s mother who picked his broken pieces and again cheered him. Later he changed school but spent a whole year trying to figure out what he is going to do in the future. Then he gathered courage and decided to graduate from Landen’s school as per their dream.
He pursued his passion for dancing when he went back to his old school just because it was hell difficult to sit in the wheelchair for the whole day.
There at stage he felt so much difficulty in doing most of the steps such as “extensions with toes” at that point Gabe would think that he does not have toes, and talked to himself, “should I used my nose?” but some of the steps he found were feasible for him such as spins. That journey was not easy though, he used to hear that he is given favor just because he is handicapped.
Such words used to crush his determination. One day Gabe went to his coach and asked not to send him to the stage because they feel pity for him because he is handicapped.
The words of his coach changed Gabe’s life and there was the point when all his dejection shunned. His coach said that he is on stage just because he is exactly right for this dancing team.
After his selection he stood second and even performed at Maury show, one sentence changed his life and no Gabe is a dancer and a successful motivational speaker.
Now Gabe is a symbol of positivity and valor. According to him his proudest moment would be learning how to walk, dressing up, using the wheelchair himself and graduating. But what he has achieved is much more than what he thought.
No one can say that It is the same Gabe who used to feel dejected when he was bullied in school and now when people say him to have prosthetics he answers them with a smile, that he has skilled more without limbs which people cannot achieve without limbs.
Now it would be difficult for him to learn everything with prosthetics. Gabe is self-important of what he is. Be original.
