Lightning Strike Suspected Of Starting A Massive Fire In A Texas Condo


A lightning strike is suspected of starting a massive fire in Texas where a condominium complex has suffered terrible damages.

As seen in the photos from South Padre Island, Texas, the building B of the Gulf Point Condominiums burned to the ground.

While the fire has reportedly caused some $7 million worth of damage, the residents were evacuated in time and no one got injured by the blaze.

The incident occurred at 7:30 on Saturday morning, whereas the authorities believe a lightning strike to be responsible for the massive blaze.

According to NBC News, the fire started spreading across the building from the east side before engulfing the entire top of the building in flames.

While the firefighters had attempted to put out the blaze, the fire eventually took over the entire building and leveled it to the ground.

“There’s several cars that were damaged. Some completely burned by the fire,” 55-year-old witness Roy Garcia reportedly said.

As Mr. Garcia explained, he was staying with his family at a nearby condominium while visiting South Padre Island when the devastating fire broke out.

Another witness who was staying at a nearby complex during the incident was 23-year-old Camila Crisp who said:

“For a minute I thought maybe there was some sort of a tornado or something just because it was a huge cloud of smoke… I saw the entire building going up in flames.”

While the authorities are still investigating the incident, the National Weather Service suggested a lightning strike was most likely responsible for sparking the fire.
