A young woman has spoken out and defended her relationship with a much older man after people kept on asking her why she was with him.
31-year-old Alexandra Sinyavskaya fell in love with 54-year-old Antonio Scuzzarella, a man 23 years her senior, back in 2014 when she was just 24 years old.
As she revealed, Antonio managed to capture her heart after showering her with compliments while visiting her at the coffee shop where she was working at the time.
Though the couple briefly separated when Alexandra decided she wasn’t ready for a serious relationship just yet, they found their way back to each other in 2020 after reconnecting online.
“In February 2020, we made plans to go to Spain together as friends as he knew the country very well and I have always wanted to go,” the 31-year-old recalled.
“We bought tickets and made plans for a holiday in Barcelona when Covid hit and Italy closed its borders. He insisted that I should go without him, but I said no and we stayed at home, him in Turin, Italy and me in Prague, Czech Republic.”
As the time progressed and the pair kept on dating online, their love grew stronger and stronger and they decided to tie the knot in June 2021.
“People assume that I am with him for his money and say if he was a simple clerk or a street sweeper I would not be with him,” Alexandra, who works as an accountant, said.
“Some of my friends still don’t understand why I’m not with a better-looking guy my age. Sometimes when we are out in the streets people ask whether he is my dad and we have to clarify that we are a couple. It is funny, but it also gets very annoying after a while.”
The young lady also decided to explain once and for all why she prefers dating older men and why she would never trade her husband for a younger guy.
“I discovered very early on in my dating life that I don’t like the system. I want you to show me something that I don’t know,” Alexandra, who dated a man ten years her senior when she was 16, expressed.
“I prefer a man who knows how to live, I want a man who is experienced, who is well-travelled and knows who he is.”
She added: “People make comments about you, your partner, your relationship but you don’t have to explain anything to anyone just be happy.”
